Welcome to Swift River Energy Limited’s new website for the North Bala Falls Small Hydro Project!  Here you will find news, drawings and next steps for the construction of the small power plant.

SREL is currently working towards completing the power plant building drawings for the submission of a building permit and completing power plant plans and specifications for submission to the Province of Ontario.  Both submissions are several weeks away.  We have also been busy working with TML staff, Council and consultants on a plan to mitigate construction impacts to traffic and Margaret Burgess Park.  The plan includes leasing land from TML to avoid using the park for construction staging.  TML Council will be considering the lease option soon (possibly at the November 13th Council meeting) and, depending on which option they  choose, a new accessible water front park located on the Portage Landing Lands could be in Bala’s future.

You can check out the proposed park Plans, which also include the power plant building's elevation drawings.

Did you know that the design committee who developed the plans for the hydro dam were made up of individuals in the community worked closely with SREL’s architect on the development of the building design?
